To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II — and the 77th anniversary of the end of the battle of Stalingrad — The Stalingrad Battle Foundation (Volgograd, Russia) present a unique exhibition at the St Albans Museum + Gallery (29 February – 5 March) to highlight the influence this battle had on the people of Great Britain and, in particular, on the towns and villages surrounding St Albans.
To tie-in with the end of the exhibition, The Odyssey proudly presents a very special screening of Fedor Bondarchuk’s Stalingrad, with special guests connected with the exhibition and a Q&A after the screening with one fo the lead actors, Philippe Reinhardt, hosted by the Producer of the film, Polina Schlicht.
A group of Russian soldiers fight to hold a strategic building in their devastated city against a ruthless German army, and in the process become deeply connected to two Russian women who have been living there.
The Stalingrad Fund:
The project considers the history of relations between Stalingrad and British society in 1942-1945 as a history of solidarity, friendship and fruitful cooperation between our peoples.
The Stalingrad Battle Foundation aims to strengthen and expand friendly contacts in the field of public diplomacy between the civil societies of Russia and the United Kingdom.
