Five years have passed since everything was awesome, and Bricksburg - now renamed Apocalypseburg - is in a time of war, and facing a bleak future thanks to a massive new threat.

In order to restore harmony and save the Lego universe, heroes Emmet (Chris Pratt), Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett), and some new friends, must travel to faraway worlds to defeat the Duplo invaders destroying their home.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller return to write and produce after scoring another huge hit with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and, yet again, they have not scrimped on pop culture references. They bring in most of the DC Universe, introduce Rex Dangervest - a mashup of all Chris Pratt’s best roles - and parody everything from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Toy Story.

Lord and Miller admit they didn’t have a sequel in mind during the first movie, and even friends told them it was a bad idea after it wrapped up so perfectly! However, both have since said that although they had bricked themselves into a corner, it ended up being a great way for their two different styles of storytelling to come together.
