Fast approaching its 60th Anniversary, the 1961 classic remains as fabulous as ever as it makes a return on The Odyssey’s big screen.

Paul, a lonely struggling writer (George Peppard) becomes enchanted with his neighbour Holly Golighty (Audrey Hepburn); an independent young woman with a latent romantic streak and a charming free spirit. He becomes drawn into her world, which is mostly made up of elaborate cover stories to maintain dignity and cover up some less-than-moral goings on. He sees through her penchant for high fashion and socialite aspirations to the hidden vulnerability she hones at heart.

It is not difficult to see why this film remains a firm favourite to many; the costumes are iconic— who could forget that little black dress? It’s hard to imagine anybody other than Hepburn, who brings Golighty to life in a bat of her doe eyes, filling those Chanel shoes. Add in the soft croon of Moon River and you have a recipe for a timeless classic.

Definitely glamorous and perhaps a little bizarre, the love story is ditsy and delightful in a way that is as captivating now as it was during its original release.
