The immortal boogeyman Michael Myers returns in this highly anticipated sequel to the 1978 classic.
In the decades that followed that fateful Halloween night 40 years ago, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has spent the time arming and preparing herself for the inevitable return of her arch nemesis, all under the cynical scrutiny of her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and Granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak).
But when Myers escapes during a mental health facility transfer, the years of scoffing at Laurie's paranoia turn into real life terror as Michael Myers prowls the streets of Haddonfield once again.
Director David Gordon Green demonstrates a great reverence for the original film whilst turning a lot of the familiar tropes on their head to deliver an experience that seems fresh and exciting but also nostalgic.
The classic theme returns with a score by John Carpenter (in collaboration with his son Cody). More fan service is present when Nick Castle (The original "Shape") dons that familiar white mask again for another round of seasonal stalking.
Halloween is the perfect companion piece to Carpenter's 1978 masterpiece and to paraphrase Sheriff Brackett "Everyone's entitled to one MORE good scare".
