With its impressive cast very firmly grasping the sexual nettle, “Book Club” scurries happily through the undergrowth of mature female relationships.

From a screenplay by director Bill Holderman and Erin Simms, the film stars Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenbergen as four close friends who read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ in their long-standing book club and subsequently take a long hard look at their own relationships.

Unsurprisingly (this is a comedy after all) they view the book as a wake-up call and decide to push back the self-imposed staid boundaries to their relationships and rediscover love and mischief.

‘Book Club’ is a movie that is rarely seen in Hollywood these days, with its starring actresses all comfortably over 60 and centred on mature women gleefully revamping their sex lives.

And although light-hearted, the film has truths for younger audiences too, notably how life doesn’t simply end at middle-age - even “old” friendships and relationships can still enrich, both emotionally and physically.

Come and see, the chemistry of the 4 lead stars alone is a joy to watch, as are their naughty stories!
